Nitto Optical Korea has been carrying out social contribution activities since its founding in order to fulfill corporate social responsibility and implement its social contribution effectively based on activities related to the SDGs*.

* The sustainable development goals (SDGs) are an universal set of goals that the world pursue together for 15 years from 2016 to 2030. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development was adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015. A set of 17 goals with 169 targets was adopted to eradicate poverty and achieve sustainable development.

During the past year, the company had operated an in-house volunteer group called the KOSMOS Love Volunteer Team and actively encouraged employees to volunteer. As the result, 190 employees had participated and engaged in volunteer work last year.

The company held an event, “Creating Green KORENO”, on the National Arbor Day last year to contribute to CO2 and fine reduction efforts. Continuous efforts have been made in order to make the industrial complex clean and beautiful and a clean environment by consistently carrying out the “Happiness Spores Project” for environmental cleanup activities in the Hyeongok Industrial Complex.

In addition, the company has supported local children’s centers for their children’s job experience, and local disabled facilities called Ebada Village. The company has received an appreciation plague for their support in 10 years of filmgoing and special meal services and clean-up volunteers around the facilities. In addition, the company signed an agreement with the Korea Red Cross (Blood Services) that promises to donate blood more than three times a year through the signing ceremony. Since then, the company has consistently participated in the blood donation and received a “Corporate Appreciation Plaque for Excellence in Group Blood Donation”. Over the past year, the company has worked hard to bring warmth throughout communities through various activities.

The staff of Nitto Optical Korea in corporate social responsibility promised to continue to be actively involved in its activities and said, “As an employee of Nitto Optical Co., Ltd., which values the warm heart rather than the bright brain, I pride myself on our social contribution activities that seem to be of little help”

Nitto Optical Co., Ltd. has received an appreciation plaque from Gyeonggi-do Governor on the foreign-invested company’s day in 2018 in recognition of its efforts to coexist with the local communities and to help the underprivileged and low-income neighborhoods through diverse and consistent social contribution activities.

We hope that the case of Nitto Optical Co., Ltd., which has set sustainable development goals and continues to build small efforts with a big vision for not only for the present but also for the warm and peaceful future of mankind, will be a model for many companies.
